Nationwide Campaign to educate schools on Dyscalculia

This month we are launching a nationwide campaign to educate schools on Dyscalculia and the different techniques used to support learners with the condition.

It is estimated that 1-in-20 individuals have Dyscalculia, yet it remains an under-researched learning difficulty in the UK, and as a result teachers struggle to support learners with this condition. With this in mind we will be travelling the country to ensure all schools have the opportunity to attend our free CPD Certified Dyscalculia Training sessions.

Each session will be led by Judy Hornigold, an independent education consultant specialising in Dyscalculia and an Associate Tutor for the BDA and Edge Hill University. She is also a trainer for Maths No Problem, training teachers in Singapore Maths.

The training sessions are taking place at the following locations and times:

 

15th January 2019 – Preston,

Marriott Hotel, PR3 5JB

22nd January 2019 – Newcastle,

29th January 2019 – Birmingham,

Aston Villa Football Club,

20th March 2019 – Chester,

28th March 2019 – Barnet,

9am-12pm

1pm-4pm

 

The sessions are suitable for Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers and SENCOs and are free to attend. All delegates in attendance will receive CPD Certification. IDL are proud winners of the 2018 National Association of Special Educational Needs (NASEN’s) Effective Technology/ Resource Award and finalist in the Literacy category of the Tech for Teachers Awards.

The Government’s new ‘Every Child Achieving and Thriving’ White Paper sets out reforms to the schools and SEND systems in England to help ensure every child can achieve and thrive. 👏

We’re especially enthusiastic about the significant funding being invested to make mainstream schools more inclusive, increasing access to experts such as specialist teachers and speech and language therapists, and what this could mean for the future of SEND support.
