IDL Numeracy – the brand new interactive maths resource is now available for use in schools and homes. The maths resource has been developed by IDLS (International Dyslexia Learning Solutions Ltd) to help teach those with dyscalculia and lower level mathematical ability.

IDL Numeracy includes a fully graded course of 2250 lessons, covering every aspect of the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Numeracy National Curriculum. Each lesson is made up of one of the following Mathematical principles: Bonds; Counting; Sequencing; Shapes and Patterns; Number Value; Place Value; and Arithmetic.

Nikki Baines, Interventions Manager at IDLS, said: “After over 30 years of supporting those with dyslexia and lower literacy levels using IDL Literacy, we are excited to be launching IDL Numeracy. This resource is designed to support those with dyscalculia, pupils who struggle with maths and in turn reduce the stress and anxiety associated with maths in general.”

Each lesson consists of a mathematical puzzle presented in a fun and easy way. The new resource is based on the same features that have made the specialist dyslexia support software IDL Literacy so effective in helping pupils with special educational needs. These features are: multi-sensory lessons; progress monitoring; easy to use for pupils and teachers; independent learning and available anywhere.

Before its release, IDL Numeracy was successfully piloted by many schools across the North West. David Marlow, Deputy Headteacher at Etz Chaim Boys School, said: “The students at our school have benefitted greatly from IDL Literacy over the years, the multi-sensory approach along with the easy analytical and re-testing tools make IDL a central part of our SEND strategy. Our school was privileged to have an early insight into IDL Numeracy, our students have engaged successfully with its approach and we saw immediate progress being made.”
