How IDL can be used to compliment teaching in schools
IDL is a successful solution to help learners with dyslexia and dyscalculia. IDL offers two programmes, one for literacy and one for numeracy. In recent years we have seen a big uptake of the IDL software in Scottish schools alongside positive results. IDL encourages independent learning and can be used as a distant learning tool.
It has been “confirmed that IDL produces significantly faster reading and spelling related improvements than non-specialist teaching methods – with an average 10 months improvement in reading and 11 months improvement in spelling after just 26 hours on the IDL programme.”

IDL Numeracy is a resource to help improve outcomes for low attaining learners. The programme features an online baseline assessment alongside lessons that are engaging for learners. The mathematical problems are presented in a fun way that encourages independent learning. Please see below how IDL numeracy links to the curriculum for excellence.
